In the early evening of January 3, 2022, the life of 24-year-old DAndre Malik Green was tragically cut short in what would become the first homicide of the year in Lexington, Kentucky. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 8:51 p.m., police officers arrived at a residence in the 500 block of Anniston Drive to find Green unresponsive inside.
The Lexington Fire Department, also at the scene, confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries.
The Fayette County Coroner's Office later identified Green as the victim. A father of two, his unexpected death sent ripples of shock and grief through his family and the wider community. In the wake of the shooting, the Lexington Police Department launched an investigation into his death.
