In the early hours of Sunday, September 11, 2016, the life of Gavin Scott Spieker, a 21-year-old Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Just after midnight, the sound of gunfire pierced the night near the intersection of 31st and Colfax avenues on the city's north side. The activation of ShotSpotter technology alerted Minneapolis Police to the incident, and upon their arrival, they discovered Spieker lying in the street with a gunshot wound.
