In the early morning hours of July 26, 2022, the life of 36-year-old RayAndre Lamar Bryant Torrence, a Black male from Minneapolis, Minnesota, was tragically cut short. Police responded to a report of a shooting on the 700 block of Oliver Avenue North at approximately 2:40 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Torrence deceased in the front passenger seat of an SUV.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner later confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, ruling the
manner of death as a homicide. This incident marked the 49th homicide in Minneapolis that year. The initial investigation provided a sliver of a lead when a 911 caller reported seeing a man in a hoodie leaving the area after the sound of gunfire.
Despite the initial witness report, there has been no public announcement of any arrests made in connection with the shooting. Information regarding a suspect or suspects has not been released by the Minneapolis Police Department.
