Dwante B. Benson, a 24-year-old aspiring rapper from Minneapolis known by his stage name 'Poppy Loco,' was shot on September 12, 2017, in the 4300 block of 4th Avenue S. He succumbed to his injuries on September 16, 2017, at Hennepin County Medical Center. Benson was shot alongside a 21-year-old woman who survived the attack with a gunshot wound to her arm. The incident occurred just a day after Benson's 24th birthday, when he had plans to shoot a music video.
