On June 11, 2022, Hassan Abu Mohamed, a 31-year-old resident of Minneapolis, MN, was found dead in the driver's seat of a vehicle near the intersection of West 15th Street and Nicollet Avenue. The Minneapolis Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 3:20 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Mohamed with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner later confirmed his identity and cause of death.
During the same incident, another man, who was in a different vehicle, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center by a private vehicle for treatment. Despite the severity of the crime, no arrests have been made, and the police have not released any descriptions or names of potential suspects. This case marked the 40th homicide investigation in Minneapolis for the year 2022. The investigation remains ongoing, and the police continue to seek leads to identify and apprehend those responsible for Mohamed's death.
