In the early hours of a Minneapolis morning, the life of Ahmed Mahamed Badal, a 35-year-old Black man of Somali descent, was tragically cut short. On April 12, 2021, while working as a Lyft driver to support his growing family, Badal was shot and killed near the intersection of 14th Avenue South and East 28th Street. His body was discovered lying in the street, a block away from his vehicle, leaving a void in the lives of his wife and their five young children, with a sixth on the way.
