On a late spring evening in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 21, 2021, the life of Jarvis L. Haynes, a 27-year-old Black male from the nearby suburb of Brooklyn Park, was tragically cut short. In the vicinity of Girard Avenue North, situated between North 26th and North 27th Avenues, Haynes suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his left thigh.
