In the pre-dawn hours of a cold Saturday in north Minneapolis, Jeremiah Eli Black, a 42-year-old White / Caucasian man, was outside working on a vehicle. It was around 4 a.m. on February 18, 2023, in an alley on the 3500 block of Girard Avenue North, when another vehicle unexpectedly approached him. An argument broke out between Black and at least one person in the other vehicle. The confrontation quickly escalated, and the sounds of gunfire shattered the morning quiet.
