Jason Eugene Harwood, a 40-year-old White male, was a Corporal with the Topeka Police Department who was killed in the line of duty on September 7, 2014. On that Sunday afternoon, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Harwood conducted a traffic stop in the 3200 block of SE Sixth Avenue in east Topeka. During the stop, an occupant of the vehicle opened fire, fatally wounding the 15-year veteran of the police force.
