In the early morning hours of Valentine's Day in 2016, the life of 25-year-old Deljuan Laron Patton, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Topeka, Kansas. At approximately 5:13 a.m., officers from the Topeka Police Department were dispatched to the 2500 block of S.E. Madison following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered that Patton had sustained a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
