In the early morning hours of Valentine's Day in 2016, the life of 25-year-old Deljuan Laron Patton, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Topeka, Kansas. At approximately 5:13 a.m., officers from the Topeka Police Department were dispatched to the 2500 block of S.E. Madison following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered that Patton had sustained a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Deljuan Laron Patton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Topeka Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. Patton, a resident of Topeka born on June 24, 1990, was a father and was known by friends and family for his passion for music.
As the investigation into his death progressed, authorities sought assistance from the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible for his death. To this day, the case remains an unsolved homicide. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation remains open, with law enforcement continuing to seek information that may bring closure to Patton's family and community.
