On a visit to see family in Topeka, Kansas, Donald L. Woolridge, an 81-year-old Black/African American male and a pastor from Florence, Arizona, was shot and killed on the evening of October 24, 2022. The Topeka Police Department reported that the shooting happened just after 7:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of SE Fremont St. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered Woolridge had already succumbed to his injuries.
In the course of their investigation, authorities took one person
into custody for questioning. That individual was subsequently released, and no arrests have been announced in the case.
