In the spring of 2023, the life of 33-year-old Sherman Coleman Jr., a Black male from Topeka, Kansas, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Monday, April 17, 2023, an incident of gun violence unfolded in the 2300 block of SE Bellview Avenue in Topeka. First responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Sherman Coleman Jr. suffering from life-threatening injuries.
