On a summer night in Topeka, Kansas, the lives of a young family were tragically cut short. On August 7, 2016, Dominique Ray, a 23-year-old Black / African American male, was found shot to death in his apartment. Also discovered at the scene were his 20-year-old girlfriend, Camrah Trotter, who was in her third trimester of pregnancy, and her unborn baby. Trotter had also been shot and raped. The brutal nature of the crime sent shockwaves through the community and left a family devastated.
