On a spring evening in Wichita, Kansas, 31-year-old James Walker III, a Black/African American male, was at a house party, enjoying a get-together with a number of other adults and children. The date was April 9, 2017, and the gathering was taking place in the 1200 block of South Minneapolis. As some of the partygoers socialized in the front yard, the festive atmosphere was shattered by an act of sudden and brutal violence.
