In the late summer of 2021, a burst of violence cut short the life of James Epps Jr., a 37-year-old man, in Topeka, Kansas. On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 24th, just before 2 p.m., police were called to the Travelers Inn at 3846 SW Topeka Blvd. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Epps with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of American Medical Response personnel, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
