In the early hours of a summer Friday, the life of 23-year-old Brian M. Wright Jr. was cut short by gunfire in Topeka, Kansas. On June 21, 2024, in what police have described as a gang-related incident, Wright was fatally shot in the 3100 block of SW Westover Road. A woman was also injured during the violent encounter that shattered the peace of the southwest Topeka neighborhood.
