In the early morning hours of October 20, 2023, the life of Trevon Donzell Praylow Sr., a 35-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short in his lifelong home of Topeka, Kansas. The incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of SW Fillmore Street, a residential area that would become the scene of the city's 32nd homicide of the year. Officers from the Topeka Police Department were dispatched to the location following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was Trevon Praylow, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, an adult whose identity was not publicly released, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were described as not life-threatening.
