In the late evening hours of December 12, 2024, the life of David Bentley, a 45-year-old White / Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in Topeka, Kansas. Police officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Southwest Stone for a welfare check just before 11:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Bentley suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response from first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
This violent act marked the city of Topeka's 21st homicide of the year.
The investigation into David Bentley's death quickly progressed, leading to the identification of a suspect. Authorities arrested 27-year-old Colton G. Miller of Topeka in connection with the shooting. Following his arrest, Miller was transported to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
