On the morning of May 28, 2015, Pedro Melendez Alvarado, a 50-year-old Hispanic man, was driving to work in Washington, DC, during the busy rush hour. As he traveled along northbound I-295 near Exit 1, another vehicle pulled alongside his black SUV. Suddenly, shots were fired from the other car into Alvarado's vehicle. The unexpected violence of the morning commute left Alvarado and his passenger, 56-year-old Miguel A. Rodriguez Carabantes, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services rushe ...
