In the early morning hours of August 28, 2020, a tragic event unfolded in Southeast Washington, D.C., forever altering the lives of one family. Erik Butler, a 28-year-old Black male, became the victim of a fatal shooting in the 1100 block of Barnaby Terrace. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 8:47 a.m. and discovered Butler suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
