On June 5, 2019, Bruce Gilmore, a 39-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., was shot and killed in the 3500 block of 22nd Street, Southeast. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 8:21 p.m. and found Gilmore suffering from gunshot wounds. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
