On a summer morning in 2015, the life of 25-year-old Rodney Delonte Davis of Manassas, Virginia, was cut short by gunfire in the nation's capital. The male victim was discovered unconscious on Sunday, June 28, around 9 a.m. in the unit block of Galveston Place in Southwest Washington, D.C. Emergency services responded to the scene, but Davis had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
His body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where his death was officially ruled a homicide.
The investigation into Davis's murder took a violent and misguided turn, leading to another man's death. In the weeks that followed, associates of Davis, who was also known as 'Lo,' sought to avenge his killing. Members of the Imperial Gangsta Bloods, a gang with which Davis was affiliated, came to believe that a man named Ryan Matthew Addison was responsible for his death. Following an investigation, Joshua Artis was arrested and charged with Addison's murder. He would later plead guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
