On a Tuesday evening in Washington, D.C., the life of 26-year-old Marquett Tyler was tragically cut short. On November 22, 2016, at approximately 8:39 p.m., in the 3300 block of 22nd Street, Southeast, Tyler was discovered lying unconscious on a sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Tyler was a Black male and a resident of Southeast D.C.
The Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation into Tyler's death. In an effort to gather information, the department has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime. Homicide detectives are actively investigating the case, but as of late 2025, there have been no arrests made in connection with the shooting.
