In the late morning of a Saturday in Washington, D.C., a burst of violence cut short the life of 16-year-old Jakhi Snider. The male teen, identified as Black/African American, was in the 1600 block of Morris Road, SE, on November 26, 2022, when he was shot. The incident occurred at approximately 11:05 a.m.
Responding to reports of the shooting, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department found Snider unconscious and not breathing at the scene.
Emergency medical personnel treated him there before rushing him to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, Jakhi Snider was pronounced dead.
In the immediate aftermath, police pursued individuals from the scene and took a person of interest into custody. However, it was later announced that this individual was not involved in the shooting. The investigation into Snider's death continues, and authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information. As of now, no arrests have been officially announced in connection with the homicide. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Jakhi Snider's death.
