Aisha Nickole Hayes Shepard, a 38-year-old Black / African American woman, was full of life and deeply loved by those who knew her. A mother to three daughters, she was a graduate of Brighton High School and held an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Roxbury Community College. She had aspirations of furthering her education and worked as a Residence Coordinator at Heading Home Shelter.
Described by her family as loving, caring, smart, funny, direct, and helpful, she was the oldest of eleven siblings and cherished her role in her large family.
In the early morning hours of August 9, 2021, tragedy struck in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. A shooting occurred near the Mattapan line on Irma Street, shattering the neighborhood's peace. Aisha was fatally wounded in the incident, which left five other individuals with non-life-threatening injuries. When police responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m., they found Aisha with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries. The community was left in shock and grief by the sudden and violent loss.
The Boston Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. However, details regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with Aisha's death have not been publicly disclosed. The investigation was ongoing as authorities worked to identify those responsible for the violence that cut her life short. Her family, devastated by their loss, expressed their profound heartbreak and the immense pain of her three daughters now left without their mother. They remembered her belief in the justice system and held onto hope that those responsible would be brought to account for their actions.
