On a warm evening in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 29, 2002, 10-year-old Trina Ann Persad, a Black / African American female, was walking near a crowded playground in the Roxbury neighborhood. Tragically, her life was cut short when she was struck by a shotgun blast fired from a passing car.
