Do you know who murdered Tahitia Milton? Tahitia Milton, 39, a Black woman, was shot to death on October 23, 2010, inside a Warren Street convenience store in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood. Shortly before 3 p.m., officers from Boston Police District B-2 responded to reports of a shooting at 344/338A Warren Street and found two victims; Milton was pronounced dead at the scene, while a man wounded alongside her survived with non–life-threatening injuries.
Police identified Milton publicly soon after, and the medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
Witness accounts and contemporaneous reporting described a gunman entering the Quick Stop and opening fire with an assault-style rifle, with several outlets specifying an AK-47. The violence stunned the neighborhood—memorial candles soon crowded the storefront—and early police guidance suggested the attack was not random.
Milton was a mother of four who had deep roots in Boston. Local reporting and obituary notices remembered her as a Cathedral High School alumna who was working toward a human services degree and as a devoted parent whose family and friends organized remembrances in the days after her death.
No arrests have been announced in connection with Milton’s killing, and the case remains listed among the Boston Police Department’s unsolved homicides for 2010. Authorities have periodically renewed appeals for information from the public, but no suspect has been publicly identified.
