On a Monday afternoon, November 16, 2015, the life of 28-year-old Frederick Etheridge III was tragically cut short on a street in Washington, D.C. At approximately 3:48 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 6000 block of Eads Street NE. Upon their arrival, they discovered Etheridge suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but all lifesaving efforts were ultimately futile.
Etheridge, who was reported to have no fixed address, was pronounced dead. His death was one of three fatal shootings that occurred in the District of Columbia over a three-day period.
The investigation into the homicide moved swiftly. The day after the shooting, on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, detectives from the Homicide Branch made an arrest in connection with the case. They took 24-year-old Sharay Brittney Guy of Northeast D.C. into custody. Guy was subsequently charged with second-degree murder while armed for her alleged involvement in Etheridge's death.
