On a spring afternoon in Washington, D.C., violence tragically cut short the life of Michael Ashby Jr. The 37-year-old man was in the 5000 block of Benning Road, Southeast, on Monday, May 22, 2023, when he was shot. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 1:51 p.m.
