On the night of December 5, 2015, in the Southwest quadrant of Washington, D.C., the sound of gunshots pierced the air, forever altering the course of one young man's life. Kwaza K. Blue, a 20-year-old male, was in the 1300 block of First Street, SW, near Nationals Park, when he was fatally wounded.
Metropolitan Police Department officers on patrol in the vicinity heard the gunshots around 9:50 p.m. and rushed to the scene. There, they discovered Mr.
Blue unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
In the days that followed, the Metropolitan Police Department officially identified Kwaza K. Blue as the victim of the homicide.
