In the late hours of a summer evening in Washington, D.C., a young man's life was cut short by an act of violence. On July 20, 2017, Marcus Stephens, a 26-year-old Black male, was in the 1000 block of 17th Street, NE, when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 10:54 PM, shattering the calm of the neighborhood and leaving a community in mourning.
