In the early morning hours of November 11, 2016, the sound of gunshots pierced the quiet of the 3000 block of Stanton Road in Southeast Washington, D.C. Responding to the alert, Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived at the Stanton Glen Apartment complex to a grim scene. On the steps of the building, they discovered two young men, both unconscious and not breathing, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was identified as 19-year-old Rassaan Jennings.
Alongside Jennings was 25-year-old Samuelle Buie, who was also a victim of the deadly shooting. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and transported both men to separate area hospitals, but their injuries proved to be too severe, and both were pronounced dead. The gunfire not only claimed two lives but also caused damage to nearby homes and vehicles, indicating the chaotic nature of the event.
In the immediate aftermath of the double homicide, the Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the deaths of Rassaan Jennings and Samuelle Buie. Authorities canvassed the area for evidence and sought information from the public, offering a substantial reward for any tips that could lead to an arrest and conviction.
