In the spring of 2018, the life of 15-year-old Jaylyn Wheeler was tragically cut short on a street in Southeast Washington, D.C. A student at Ballou High School, Wheeler was walking home on the afternoon of May 16th when he was shot multiple times in the 600 block of Alabama Avenue. The incident occurred in an alley across the street from Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
