In the late summer evening of Saturday, August 21, 2021, the sound of gunshots shattered the peace in the unit block of Danbury Street, Southwest in Washington, D.C. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District arrived at the scene around 8:20 p.m., they found a young man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Nickael Dempsey, a Black male who was of no fixed address.
