In the late hours of a Monday evening in Washington, D.C., tragedy struck a 19-year-old male named Marquis Johnson. On May 15, 2023, at approximately 11:19 p.m., the sounds of gunfire shattered the night in the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace, Southeast. When officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the location, but upon their arrival,
they found that Marquis Johnson showed no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Authorities have noted that Johnson had no fixed address.
In the wake of the shooting, the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch launched an investigation into Johnson's death. As of now, the police have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in the case. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. A week after the fatal shooting, on May 22, 2023, detectives from the Homicide Branch sought the public's help in locating a vehicle of interest in connection with the case. The vehicle was described as a burgundy Nissan Juke with a Maryland license plate number of 3FB6033. Surveillance cameras captured images of the vehicle, which were released to the public in the hope of generating leads. Despite these efforts, there have been no announced breakthroughs in identifying the occupants of the vehicle or their connection to the murder.
