On the evening of July 2, 2018, 34-year-old William Mayo was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 400 block of 2nd Street, NW, Washington, DC. Mayo was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident occurred in a residential area, and the police were called to the scene shortly after the shooting was reported.
