In the final moments of a Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., the life of Donald Lewis, a 25-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On December 18, 2018, at approximately 11:59 p.m., gunshots echoed inside a residence in the 1700 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Lewis suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, becoming another victim of gun violence in the city.
