In the summer of 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm in a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Devin Dwayne Smith, a 20-year-old Black male from the area, was fatally wounded on Monday, August 12, 2019. The shooting occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m. in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast.
