In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 6, 2014, the life of 23-year-old Dashawn Hammonds, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. At approximately 5:23 a.m., gunshots echoed in the rear of the 1200 block of Simms Place, NE. When police arrived at the scene, they found Hammonds suffering from a gunshot wound.
