On March 22, 2004, Michael Antonio Smith was shot and killed in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM at 2837 Robinson Place, SE. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrived on the scene, they found Smith lying in the hallway of the building, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the neck. Despite medical efforts, Smith succumbed to his injuries on March 26, 2004, at around 6:40 AM.
