In the summer of 2020, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm in a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood, leaving a young man dead and another wounded. On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to the sound of gunshots in the 1000 block of K Street SE. Arriving at the scene, they discovered 22-year-old Trevon Williams inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel were unable to save Williams, and he was
pronounced dead at the scene. A second adult male was also found nearby with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Metropolitan Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting of the young Washington, D.C. resident.
In the days following the shooting, the police department appealed to the public for assistance in solving the crime. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Williams' death. The investigation into the homicide remains ongoing, and as of now, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the case.
