In the summer of 2020, a young man's life was tragically cut short on a Friday evening in the nation's capital. Evrett Harris, a 19-year-old male, was in the 2200 block of Newton Street, Northeast on July 10th when gunfire erupted around 7:40 p.m.
Responding to reports of the shooting, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene to find a grim discovery. Inside a white vehicle, they found Evrett Harris suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save his life.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the injuries he sustained proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. Friends and family knew him by the nicknames Meisy or E. The investigation into his death remains ongoing, and authorities have continued to seek information from the public to bring closure to the case. To date, no arrests have been announced, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the shooting.
