On the evening of January 19, 2021, 32-year-old Tyrone Wright, a male resident of Northeast, DC, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Mayfair Mansions Apartment complex on Hayes Street, NE. Responding to the sound of gunshots at approximately 6:43 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers discovered Wright with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second adult male victim was found at the scene with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The investigation into Wright's death led to the arrests of two cousins, Deangelo Glover and Ronnie Wallace. Glover, then 29 years old, was the first to be apprehended on March 16, 2021, by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Subsequently, on February 24, 2022, 48-year-old Ronnie Wallace was also arrested. Both men were charged with first-degree murder while armed.
Prosecutors argued that the murder was an act of retaliatory violence. Wallace allegedly believed that Wright was responsible for the murder of his brother, Marcus Wallace, in November 2020. According to the government's evidence, on the day of the incident, Ronnie Wallace shot Tyrone Wright. Moments later, his cousin, Deangelo Glover, ran out of a nearby building and shot Wright repeatedly. During the trial, a cousin of Wallace testified that Wallace had confessed to the killing.
In February 2025, a Superior Court jury found both Deangelo Glover and Ronnie Wallace guilty of charges related to Wright's murder. Wallace was convicted of first-degree murder while armed, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, assault with intent to kill while armed for shooting the second victim, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and carrying a pistol without a license. Glover was found guilty of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and carrying a pistol without a license. In May 2025, Ronnie Wallace was sentenced to 45 years in prison, while Deangelo Glover received a 21-year prison sentence.
