In the late afternoon of a summer day in the nation's capital, tragedy struck. On Thursday, July 18, 2024, a Black / African American man named Hassan Kamara Jr., who was 26 years old, was shot and killed in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Bryant Street, Northeast. Members of the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Kamara suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency
medical services were dispatched to the scene, and D.C. Fire and EMS personnel transported Kamara to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Hassan Kamara Jr. was a resident of Takoma Park, Maryland.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the fatal shooting. As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding potential suspects or a motive for the shooting. There have been no arrests made in connection with the homicide.
