On April 16, 1996, Warren "Big Warren" Smith Jr., aged 59, was shot and killed at approximately 8:10 PM in the area of 7th Street and Florida Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to reports of a shooting and found Smith with gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, Smith succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
