In the early evening of January 26, 2021, the sounds of gunshots shattered the peace in the 2600 block of 12th Place, Southeast, Washington, D.C. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District arrived at the scene around 7:03 p.m., they found a young life tragically cut short. Fifteen-year-old Jamarid Robinson, a Black male, was discovered suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services responded quickly and transported the teenager to a local
hospital. Despite all life-saving efforts, Jamarid Robinson was pronounced dead. The loss of the vibrant middle school student, who was known for his creativity and aspirations of starting his own clothing line, sent ripples of grief through his family and community. He was reportedly with a friend near his grandmother's home at the time of the shooting.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch launched an investigation into the death of Jamarid Robinson. Authorities have offered a substantial reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this senseless act of violence. However, the case has remained unsolved, with no suspects publicly identified or apprehended. The investigation continues, and police have urged anyone with information to come forward as a family continues to wait for justice.
