In the early morning hours of February 5, 2021, the life of 28-year-old Stephon Chew, a Black male from Southeast, DC, was tragically cut short. At approximately 1:46 am, officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Irvington Street, Southwest.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr. Chew inside a residence, suffering from gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene and quickly transported him to a local hospital. Despite all life-saving efforts, Stephon Chew was pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the case, which has been classified as a homicide. The department is seeking assistance from the public to gather more information about the events that transpired that morning. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Mr. Chew's death.
As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding potential suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to piece together the circumstances that led to this fatal incident.
