Mark Andrew Graham, a 47-year-old male from Elizabeth City, North Carolina, died on December 20, 2022, due to a gunshot wound. The incident occurred early in the morning on Kristin Street in Elizabeth City. Police responded to a report of a man being shot and found Mark Andrew Graham critically injured. He was initially taken to Sentara Hospital Elizabeth City and later airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The investigation revealed that the victim's father, 68-year-old Richard Wayne Graham, was responsible for the shooting. Richard Graham was arrested without incident and initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. Following Mark Andrew Graham's death, the charges were upgraded to murder. Richard Graham was processed and transported to Albemarle District Jail under a $2,000,000 secured bond. His next court appearance was scheduled for December 29, 2022, in Pasquotank County.
