Daquan Mokare Mercer, a 21-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on June 9, 2021, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 1:10 a.m. in the area of Herrington Road and B Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Daquan Mercer unresponsive in the grass with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mercer resided on Rhonda Road in Elizabeth City.
