On August 22, 2020, Dominique Maxwell Daguizan, a 19-year-old man from Elizabeth City, North Carolina, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred on South Road Street, where officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim. When they arrived, they found Dominique with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was initially taken to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center and later airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
